Question: What equipment and software do you use?
Answer: San Diego wedding DJ Charlie uses Virtual DJ, which is probably the best DJ software for Windows. His wedding reception sound system includes two 15'' 550-watt active Behringer speakers, one 12'' 700-watt active Electro-Voice subwoofer, one Behringer sound mixer and two dynamic Behringer microphones. Although this is professional top quality equipment and it's not likely to fail, Charlie carries backups for everything so you would be in safe hands.

Answer: We always fully customize your music selection and let you choose every song. You can also use our experience and ask us for theme and song suggestions for your ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner and the rest of the reception. Our clients often request a little bit of everything to make sure everyone has a good time: Dance, Pop, Rock, Funk, Soul, Hip Hop, Country, Jazz, Swing, Classical, etc. If you're curious to know Charlie's personal preference, it's Trance, House, Techno, 70s Funk, 80s Synthwave, Hard Rock and Heavy Metal.

Question: How far in advance should I book your services?
Answer: Most clients book our San Diego wedding DJs and wedding MC San Diego services several weeks or months in advance. The earlier you book, the more time we will have to confirm our arrangements and prepare for your event. Having said that, we do get many last-minute requests and we should be able to help as long we have the payment with a singed contract at least 24 hours prior to the service start time listed on the contract. Please note that we charge approximately 20% extra for all bookings processed less than 7 days prior to the service start time listed on the contract. This fee includes expedited processing of the contract, last-minute arrangements with our workers and expedited planning.
Question: How much setup time do you need and how early do you arrive before the wedding?
Answer: Depending on the size of your wedding, your venue's policies and the services provided, we will need 30 minutes to 3 hours to set everything up and make sure all the equipment is ready before your family and friends start arriving on site. We usually like to arrive as early as possible so that we can work with no rush in a stress-free environment, and make our setup look as nice and clean as possible. However, if the policies of your venue limit our setup time, we will do our best to work quickly and efficiently.
Question: When you are providing videography, how long does it take you to edit the videos and in what format are they delivered?
Answer: Our cameras are always set to 1080p MP4 HD 16:9. Unlike many other videographers in San Diego, CA that take several months (or even years) to deliver the edited videos, we guarantee to have it ready and send it to you within 4 weeks from the wedding day. The video will be provided in the same format as original footage - 1080p MP4 HD 16:9. This is one of the most common video formats and it usually works on any device. Mp4 has also become the latest standard on Youtube.
Question: Can I attend one of your weddings to see you DJ?
Answer: We believe it's inappropriate and unprofessional to invite future brides and potential clients to weddings we work at. These are private events and no one wants a stranger at their wedding. As an alternative, we suggest that you check out our photo gallery, Youtube video demos, Yelp reviews and meet us in person at our office.
Question: Do you have online reviews?
Answer: Yes, some of our past clients have been kind enough to share their feedback with us and publish it online. If you'd like to read our Yelp reviews, you may go to Yelp.com and type in "Golden Gate Sunrise Entertainment". We also encourage you to check out our reviews on Google, Wedding Wire, The Knot and other popular review websites. If you do a little bit of research, you might discover that we have hundreds of verified 5-star reviews across our different online listings.
Question: What wedding venues in the San Diego area have you worked at before?
Answer: We have provided our services at hundreds of different hotels, restaurants, community centers, museums, churches, theaters, country clubs, boats and private homes in San Diego and the surrounding areas. If you are worried whether or not we have worked at your particular venue, we can assure you that it doesn’t affect the quality of our services, because we would visit your room prior to the wedding, get in touch with your coordinator or catering manager and arrive as early as your venue’s policies allow it on your special day.
Question: Can we meet in person?
Answer: What makes us stand out among other wedding entertainment and media providers is our great online booking and planning system with a 24-hour response policy to all inquiries. This allows us to offer much lower rates without the need for in-person consultations. We'd be happy to answer your questions via email, phone or Skype. Otherwise, we charge an extra fee for in-person consultations that can be held at our showroom studio office or your event venue in San Diego, CA. As an alternative, we can provide a complimentary consultation via Skype, Google Hangouts or Facebook Messenger.
Question: How far will you travel?
Answer: We are serving San Diego, La Mesa, El Cajon, San Marcos, Temecula, Orange County, Riverside, San Bernardino, Los Angeles and the surrounding areas. Although we are based in San Diego, more than half of the weddings we do take place in other parts of Southern California. We charge a small travel fee of $1.00 per mile (round trip) from our office in San Diego, CA to your wedding location.
Question: Who are the people that work for you and how do you train them?
Answer: Our company owner (Charlie Walkrich) carefully selects the most talented, reliable and professional wedding DJs San Diego, photographers, videographers, sound engineers, lighting technicians and wedding musicians. This process is much more complex than it may seem. We receive hundreds of applications every year. Each applicant is required to go through our manuals and tutorials followed by online quizzes. After this step Charlie schedules personal interviews with the best applicants and then picks only a handful people for training, which takes several weeks. Only when the training is complete and a personal, trustworthy relationship has been developed, Charlie may start to feel comfortable trusting and hiring these people.
Question: Do you offer any discounts?
Answer: Occasionally, we do offer discounts and specials to give more value to our clients. However, if you check on pricing of other best wedding djs San Diego, you will find that our rates are usually much more affordable and our packages include more music services and better value. Our main priority is to treat every couple equally while being fair and providing the same quality of services to every client for the same cheap price.
Question: Do you work with same-sex couples?
Answer: Absolutely! We have worked with plenty of same-sex couples in San Diego and the surrounding areas. Please feel free to reach out to us and we'll help you make your big day special and unforgettable.
Question: What music genres do you specialize in?
Answer: Most San Diego wedding DJs including us end up playing a mix of different music genres and categories to please as many guests as possible and make sure everyone has a great time. We usually start with some funk, R&B, disco or classic rock for older folks and slowly progress to more modern music ending with pop, dance house or hip hop. Our playlist is fully customizable and, more importantly, our own music preferences never interfere with what you or your guests enjoy dancing to. In fact, San Diego Wedding DJ Charlie hates about 90% of the music he plays at weddings :) But seeing happy guests enjoying themselves is what wedding DJing is about in the first place so Charlie always customizes his playlist based on your guests' age, region, background and other details.
